ASF video evidence matters
WMV usually describes video streams in an ASF container, not a single universal codec. The resolver chooses WMV only when FFprobe reports video; otherwise the same family is stored as WMA audio.
Edit legacy screen-capture speech
Corporate screen recordings may combine narration, alert sounds, and long demonstrations. Check technical terms against the picture and sample timing after each edit or slide transition, including silent demonstrations where the microphone may have stopped before the video ended.

- Test playback in a current offline player without credentials, licenses, or network access.
- Compare the final minute with the expected program ending to detect truncated exports.
Limits worth knowing
- Digital rights management or uncommon Windows Media codecs can block server-side decoding.
- Legacy screen captures may have variable timestamps or a microphone track that ends early.

Why can a playable WMV still fail audio ingest?
The ASF container may be valid while its audio codec is unsupported or missing. Echoryte requires a real, decodable audio track before transcription.
